Arrested for piercing underage girls

@ 07:20 AM (54 months, 5 days ago)
Some dufas in long island was arrested for piercing the tongues of underage girls in his unsanitary basement.

This really worries me. The number of underage girls, and boys, that want to get their tongues pierced seems to be growing. Granted I pierced my own ears when I was 13 because I simply didn't want to pay for it but something as complicated as a tongue piercing was out of the question.

Wait until your old enough and go to a professional piercing studio. Amature tongue piercings are notorious for getting infected. The damage and scarring possibility isn't worth it. Besides the odds of keeping a swollen tongue with a stud through it from your parents are slim indeed.

If you do get your tongue pierced by a non-professional be sure to use at least a 3/4 inch stud then after a week or two, when the swelling goes down, change to a half inch.  I know quality body jewelry is expensive but it can save you alot of discomfort.

It might even save your life.

Occasionally tongue piercings swell and if the connective tissue in the tongue and surrounding area gets really irrated it can swell so much that you have trouble breathing. This is known as 'Ludwig's Angina'.  Although usually caused by a tooth infection at the roots, 'Ludwigs Angina' can just as easily be caused by an infected tongue piercing.  If you wait too long surgery may be necessary even so far as punching a hole in your throat so you can breathe.

If your tongue swells so much that you have even the slightest trouble breathing, seek professional medical attention immediately. Sure it's embarrasing but if you don't you might die! seriously.
